One weekend we went to the City of Tarlac to visit a friend. Since Tarlac is in Central Luzon, we decided to maximize our trip and searched for a new restaurant to try in the area.

The restaurant that piqued our interest was Roppongi Japanese Restaurant. The restaurant opened last 2021 in the middle of the pandemic. The inspiration came from the entertainment district of Tokyo named Roppongi.

And because we have other plans that day, we only ordered 2 of their best-sellers under the maki option:

Roppongi Roll – This is a maki with salmon, tuna and shrimp tempura over krispy kani.

Roppongi Roll

Ebi & Gyu – A surf and turf version. This consists of Hibachi steak, shrimp tempura and a puree of sweet potato.

Based on the menu, they offer sushi, donburi and sake. To complete the experience, my plan was to order sake. Unfortunately, sake is not yet available. Good thing, they offer Strong Zero.

To summarize, I like that the staffs/crew were friendly. I was impressed by the aesthetic of the retaurant. For the food, generous serving size complete with food presentation. Both rolls that we tried were delicious. Even if Ebi & Gyu is the crowd favorite, my top pick is Roppongi roll. Now, I’m curious about the other food on their menu. If you are in Tarlac and craving for umami filled dishes you should visit Ropponggi Japanese Restaurant.

Recommendations: Roppongi roll

Tip: Partner their dishes with Strong Zero or Japanese Beers
