Tiaong, Quezon is a picturesque town in Quezon Province. Known for its lush landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and flavorful local cuisine. From scenic countryside views to well-preserved ancestral houses, Tiaong offers a charming and authentic experience for travelers seeking a delightful escape.
On our recent visit to Tiaong, Quezon, we dined at UGU BIGYAN Pottery Garden and Restaurant. Owned by master potter himself. Augusto “Ugu” Bigyan, is a renowned Filipino potter and artist.
As we entered the place, I was instantly impressed by the old houses with rustic design. The lush garden added a contrast to the clay colored bricks.
The courtyard has several huts and structures surrounded by plants and trees.
The main dining area is an open air pavilion with traditional design.
UGU Bigyan Pottery Garden and Restaurant offers a feast of Filipino and Asian Fusion cuisine. In our experience, we started the UGU BIGYAN signature set menu with Pork and Mushroom Soup.
Pako Salad or Fern Salad was an instant hit.
Kulawo or Banana Blossom in Coconut Milk. A specialty of UGU BIGYAN Pottery Garden and Restaurant.
Kalamares or the deep fried squid. The meat was tender and perfectly cooked.
The veggies with tofu. Forgot the name of this one :D
Grilled Spareribs with Barbeque sauce.
Shrimp Curry - this one has a thick and flavorful sauce. This one is my top pick.
Piniritong Isda with Sweet and sour sauce. This one comes with a mango salsa.
UGU Bigyan Signature set menu also includes a bowl of fresh buko juice.
For dessert, they served Guinumis. This one is like Halo-halo minus the beans and ice.
Aside from the delicious dishes, what sets UGU BIGYAN Pottery Garden and Restaurant from others is the unique dining experience. All the plates, bowls and cups are handmade by Ugu. UGU BIGYAN Pottery Garden and Restaurant is truly a perfect blend of art, cuisine and nature.
Recommendations: Shrimp Curry, Pako Salad and Grilled Spareribs.
Tip: UGU Bigyan Pottery Garden and Restaurant is still under the radar. Expect that there may be days with few guest/clients. However, the restaurant requires a minimum of 10 pax for their dining experience. If you are a smaller group and would like to try UGU Restaurant Signature Set Menu, then I recommend paying for the minimum. The food and experience is worth it.
